Here we go again - "The Breed" is one of these movies you wish you never had seen the trailer for. Or you wish that you had never watched the movie AFTER you have seen the trailer. Why? Because all the good scenes are in the trailer. The first 10 or 15 minutes were good - surprise; most of the trailer is there - and then it just gets flat out boring.
The movie itself it a hybrid of movies like Blade or/and "The Matrix". That is also the biggest flaw of the movie - it does not introduce anything new to the vampire story. It is a rehash of so many, uncountable, vampire movies out there - it hurts. In a nutshell the story would be: Some vampires have become tired of all the killing and drinking blood-thing (which is a bad thing to grow tired of if you are a vampire) and want to integrate into the human society. A different vampire, one that still enjoys the undeniable pleasure of drinking blood, is absolutely against this - so he starts killing innocents, to frighten humans and thereby ruin any chances of a peaceful coexistence right away.

Now that you had some time to interpret this profound story I could maybe also spend some time on things that were not so awful. I did like the set design and the whole setting / location of the movie. The production design wasn't cheap by any means at all - it just evokes the feeling that this movie was originally planned to be the pilot to a TV-series. The way this movie ends underlines that...
If there is one thing I may say about the actors: Am I the only one who thinks that is very hard to imagine Adrian Paul play any other role than the "Highlander"? I caught myself watching the movie and all the time just waiting to hear "there can be only one". Maybe that is just me....
Bokeem Woodbine - don't want to write much about his performance, only so much that I am sad to say that an otherwise decent actor was totally miscast here. Trust me, he realls is that BAD.
To sum it all up, give this movie a chance. It might be just me being too critical, but it does have its moments. Just don't look for stunning performances or spend too much time thinking about WHAT exactly is happening on screen. I might be able to remember the trailer to "The Breed" in a few years from now - but the movie I'll have forgotten about.
