Summary:
A journalism student, Carmilla (Blanca Lewin), meets a group of kids who play a role-game called "Eternal Blood". She becomes interested in this hobby through "M" (Juan Pablo Ogalde), a young man she met in a philosophy seminar. During a strange party at an abandoned house, the group meets "Dahmer" (Carlos Borquez), a peculiar young man, who introduces the group to rituals of vampirism. "M" sees that the situation is not normal and shortly realizes that some of them are actually being transformed into vampires. Using ancient texts, "M" has to find a way to revert the vampire process before the souls of the transformed are too far gone to be brought back.
Note:
- With his straight slasher-movie "Angel Nero" (aka "Black Angel") and his follow-up, "Sangre Eterna" (the first Chilean Vampire movie, which became the biggest box-office hit in the history of Chilean cinema), Jorge Olguin initiated the horror-film genre in Chile, as fantastic films didn't exist in the country at that time. - Initially, the cast was formed by well-known TV personalities such as Blanca Lewin, Nestor Castillana, Alvaro Espinoza, Daniel Alcaino and Felipe Rios. A delay in the special effects and the therefore resulting postponement of shooting led to a mass walkout of the cast, who opted for the TV soaps. Only Blanca Lewin stayed, while Alvaro Espinoza was replaced by Juan Pablo Ogalde. Also new on board: then 14-year-old Ximena Huilipan, who may be the first Mapuche Indian international model according to some critics. - The choice of character names is an homage to several horror icons: Carmilla, Martin ("Sangre Eterna" was admittedly influenced by George A. Romero's Martin - in both films you're never sure if the protagonists are vampires or not), M., Vampira, Dahmer, Romero. - The prostethic eyes used by the vampires didn't allow the actors to see anything, so director Jorge Olguin had to direct them as if they were blind, even during the action sequences. - In the first draft of the film, the characters were part of a film crew instead of role-playing friends.
