Summary:
This haunting portrait of a beautiful girl's emergence into womanhood is a ravishingly beautiful dream film in wich horror and sexuality mix with tenderness and innocence. Valerie (Jaroslava Schallerova), the heroine, discovers the world is not what it seems after she gets a pair of magical earrings. Her quaint little village is actually a haven for blood-sucking vampires. Her kindly grandmother (Helena Anyzova) is really an evil old crone. The local farmers are lechers, and the priest harbors strange desires. VALERIE AND HER WEEK OF WONDERS is a horror story with a nest of vampires, a bewitching fairy tale about a young girl's coming of age, and a provocative political allegory.

short review:
What a masterpiece!! This movie is awesome. It is filmed in such a beautiful way that you actually think you are dreaming a weird dream. Wonderful surroundings, a very beautiful female protagonist and a story from which other writers could learn something. However, it doesn't break the "5 Kinski"-threshold, because there are some minor drawbacks in this version (there may be a version in Chzech, in which this failures do not occur): It is very badly cut, and the subtitles are white (a lot of scenes in the movie are white as well!!) and not complete - meaning, if you don't speak Chzech, you miss some dialogues).
