Summary:
Dr. Maynard (Charles Trowbridge) tells Dr. Terry Evans (Robert Livingston) and his nurse, Susan Drake (Lorna Grey), about the theft of ten pints of blood from his lab. Later, he is visited by Ormond Murks (Ian Keith), a man Maynard had once had committed to an insane asylum and who later died from an operation. Maynard learns that Murks is an example of living death, recently brought back from the dead, and now on the prowl for human blood that he needs to counter-act his abnormality. The doctor soon becomes Murk's unwilling blood donor. Murks' brother Fred (Earle Hodgins) threatens to expose him and he too is murdered.
Suspected of committing the murders, Terry takes it upon himself to track down Murks, with the aid of Susan.
Note:
- After the death of Lon Chaney Sr., Ian Keith was one of the actors originally considered for the title role in "Dracula" (1931). The role finally went to the actor playing the role on stage, Bela Lugosi. - There's no "valley" in Valley Of The Zombies , and only one "zombie", that acts more like a vampire crossed with a mad doctor.
