This movie is (in my opinion) one of the most "realistic" vampire movies that I have seen. The only thing that seems odd is the part where a blood transfusion is performed on Mae and Caleb. Other than this, the movie mixes in science fiction and horror nicely. It seems as if vampirism is more of a disease (transmissible virion) rather than a magical curse. This is very impressive since it allows for the portrayal of the vampires' personality (and their attempt to cope with their state in a "human" civilization).
